Do I really need a tamping station?

If you’re using a single-spout or bottomless portafilter, the handle tilts and makes a level tamp almost impossible on a flat countertop. Our Walnut Espresso Tamping Station suspends the portafilter perfectly upright, so you can apply even pressure without wrist strain. The result: zero channeling and richer crema—even if you’re new to espresso.
What if I skip proper tamping?

Loose or uneven coffee lets water gush through, giving you a watery, sour shot. By parking the handle in our level cradle, you press straight down every time, packing the puck uniformly so extraction is balanced, sweet and full-bodied.
Will it fit my espresso portafilter?

Yes, it’s designed to work with 51mm, 53mm, and 58mm portafilters. We include a flexible silicone insert to support both bottomless and spouted handles securely.
Can I tamp too hard?

Yes. Too light = weak, under-extracted; too hard = bitter, over-extracted. Aim for 20-30 lb (9-14 kg) of pressure. Pairing our station with a calibrated or spring-loaded tamper (fits perfectly in the 51/53/58 mm recess) keeps force repeatable and the puck flat—so every shot tastes just like the last.
